The U.S. Men’s National Team won six of its first seven games at the 2012 IIHF World Men’s Championship, including an overtime victory vs. Canada, achieving its best start in the tournament since 1939. The U.S. dropped a heartbreaking decision to tournament co-host Finland in the quarterfinals and despite winning six of its eight games in the tournament finished seventh of 16 teams. Max Pacioretty tied for the tournament lead with 10 assists, while his 12 points (2-10) led Team USA and tied for fifth among all players. Team USA’s three best players of the tournament were goaltender Jimmy Howard (3-2-0-2, 2.42 GAA, .911 SV%, 1 SO), defenseman Justin Faulk (4-4) and forward Paul Stastny (3-6).
