The 2004 U.S. Men’s National Team won the bronze medal in thrilling fashion, topping Slovakia 1-0 in a shootout. Overall, Team USA had a 5-3-1 (W-L-T) record, including a qualifying round win over Russia and a shootout victory against Czech Republic in the quarterfinals. Ty Conklin received the directorate award for top goaltender and Richard Park was named to the media all-star team. It was Team USA's first medal at the Men's World Championship since 1996 (bronze).
