The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team captured its second-ever gold medal at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships, successfully defending its 2009 gold medal.
After opening the tournament with a 2-1 shootout victory over Estonia, Team USA fell to Czech Republic, 2-1, in USA's second consecutive game decided by shootout. Team USA went on to outscore its remaining opponents 12-2 en route to winning gold.
