2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games

The U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team finished in seventh place among 12 teams competing at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games between February 14-25, 2018.

Team USA opened the preliminary round with a 3-2 OT loss to Slovenia before topping Slovakia 2-1 and falling to the Olympic Athletes from Russia, 4-0. The U.S. defeated Slovakia again, 5-1, in the qualifying round and closed the competition with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.  

Tony Granato served as head coach of Team USA. Granato was joined by assistant coaches Keith Allain, Chris Chelios, Ron Rolston and Scott Young. In addition, Jim Johannson, who passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 21, 2018, was the team’s general manager, and Ben Smith served as director of player personnel. 

The 25-player U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team roster, which was named on Jan. 1, 2018, was comprised of college players, American Hockey Leaguers, and Americans playing professionally in Europe.
