The 2014 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team opened the Olympic Winter Games with back-to-back victories -- a 3-1 win over Finland in the opener and a 9-0 victory against Switzerland. Team USA closed group play with a 3-2 setback against Canada before storming past Sweden, 6-1, in the semifinal round. In the gold-medal game, the United States built a 2-0 third-period lead before the Canadians rallied to force overtime. In the extra session Team Canada connected on a power play to secure a 3-2 overtime victory and the gold medal.
