After falling to Germany, 1-2, to open tournament play, the U.S. defeated Denmark, 7-2; Sweden, 4-3; Italy, 3-0; Latvia, 5-3; Slovakia, 6-1 and Russia, 5-3, before falling to Finland, 0-2, in the quarterfinal round.
