The U.S. Women's Development Sled Hockey Team formally began in 2007 and in 2018-19, USA Hockey added the program to its program offerings. The 2023-24 is the team's sixth as part of USA Hockey. 

During the 2022-23 season, the U.S. captured the championship at the  first-ever Para Ice Hockey Women's World Challenge in Green Bay, Wis., Aug. 26-28, 2022.

The second annual Women's World Challenge took place  August 31 - September 3, 2023, in Green Bay, Wis. Team USA skated to another first-place finish, finishing the tournament with a 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record.
