The U.S. National Junior Team will play in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship Dec. 26, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Team USA enters the tournament as the defending gold medalist and will play its preliminary round schedule as part of Group A alongside Finland, Canada, Latvia and Germany.

Group B will include Sweden, Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Kazakhstan.

While the official tournament schedule has not been announced, with the U.S. and Canada both in Group A, it is anticipated that the North American rivals could play on New Year’s Eve for the first time since 2016.

The IIHF World Junior Championship was played in Ottawa on one other occasion, that in 2009. That year, the U.S. went 3-1-0-2 and finished fifth.
