ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP: Team USA has collected three wins in as many games thus far at the 2017 Four Nations Cup having defeated Finland, 8-2, in the tournament opener, Canada, 4-2, in its second game and Sweden, 5-0, in its third and final game of preliminary round play. Emily Pfalzer led the charge in the opening game, recording a hat trick, while 12 different U.S. players also registered points. In game two, four different players scored goals as the U.S. topped Canada, 4-2. Goaltender Maddie Rooney stood tall in net for both games, making 31 saves with a .886 SVS%. Led by Kendall Coyne, who scored two goals just under four minutes apart in game three, Team USA defeated Sweden, 5-0, in its final preliminary round game en route to the championship.

FAMILIAR FOES: The U.S. and Canada have met frequently during the Four Nations Cup with a championship on the line - 15 times to be exact. The U.S. has been outscored by Canada 39-31 in championship games at the Four Nations Cup since 2000, but has triumphed in six of the 15 meetings, including four out of the past six. Eight of the 15 championship meetings between the U.S. and Canada since 2000 have been decided by just one goal. Most recently, on Nov. 5, 2016, in Jarvanpaa, Finland, the U.S. defeated Canada, 5-3, to win the 2016 tournament.

STRIVING FOR PERFECTION:  The U.S. currently stands 3-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in the 2017 Four Nations Cup tournament, and is striving for a perfect 4-0-0-0 record. In the 20 times Team USA has competed in the tournament, including the four years of the Three Nations Cup, the U.S. has only gone undefeated once. That was in 2003 in Skovde, Sweden, when the U.S. defeated Finland, 8-0, Canada, 2-0, Sweden, 5-1, and then Canada again in the final, 2-1, en route to the championship.

THREEPEAT: Hopes for a threepeat at the 2017 Four Nations Cup are alive for Team USA, who has triumphed four out of the past six years, include the last two, in the tournament. The U.S. has competed in the Three/Four Nations Cup tournament 20 of 21 times since 1996, having not participated in 2001. Team USA has captured the Three/Four Nations Cup title seven times (1997, 2003, 2008, 2011-12, 2015-16), finished second 12 times and third in the tournament in 2013. Not including the 2017 tournament, the U.S. holds an overall record of 46-6-5-24-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) in 83 Three/Four Nations Cup games.
