FRISCO, Texas - All 10 teams competing at the 2021 Under-18 Men's World Championship will hit the ice against one another for the first time today, headlined by Team USA's pre-tournament contest against Sweden at 9:00 p.m. ET. The game can be streamed live on HockeyTV.com.
Team USA comes into this year's tournament after a third-place finish in Sweden in 2019, where they topped Canada by a 5-2 final in the bronze-medal game. The U.S. split its pair of exhibition matchups in 2019, dropping a close 1-0 battle with Finland before skating past Switzerland by an 8-0 final in their final tune-up. Tonight's pre-tournament game will be the lone exhibition game in the lead up to the tournament.
Tonight's opponent is the yellow and blue of Sweden. In regular tournament action, Team USA holds an impressive 13-2-0-3-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record agains the Swedes. The two sides are not in the same group for preliminary-round play, so the next possible time to match up will be in the knockout stage.
All pre-tournament action will be held without fans in attendance, but fans can attend games at Comerica Center beginning Monday.
