Team USA Announces Roster for U18 Men's World Championship

The U.S. begins preliminary-round play tomorrow (April 25) against Slovakia

ESPOO, Finland – USA Hockey announced today its 22-player roster for the U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team that will compete at the 2024 IIHF U18 Men's World Championship from April 25 - May 5 in Espoo and Vantaa, Finland.

The tournament features 10 countries split into two groups for the preliminary round, which begins here tomorrow (April 25). Team USA will compete in Group A alongside Finland, Latvia, Norway and Slovakia, with all games played at Metro Arena in Espoo. Group B includes Canada, Czechia, Kazakhstan, Sweden and Switzerland, and they will play preliminary round games at Trio Arena in Vantaa. Each site will host two quarterfinal games, while the two semifinal games and bronze and gold medal-games will be played in Espoo. 

Team USA is led by Nick Fohr (Grand Forks, N.D.), who is a first-time head coach for the U.S. at the IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. Brodie Ziemer (Hutchinson, Minn.) is the captain of  the United States, while Max Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) and Teddy Stiga (Sudbury, Mass.) will serve as alternate captains.

The U.S. is in search of its 12th gold medal in tournament history after winning gold last year in Basel, Switzerland, and looking for back-to-back championships for the first time since 2014 and 2015. The 11 gold medals are the most of any competing team in tournament history. 

Team USA begins preliminary round play tomorrow (April 25) against Slovakia at 7:00 a.m. ET. All U.S. games throughout the tournament will be broadcast live on NHL Network.
