GAME DAY: U.S. And Canada Set For Women’s Worlds Gold Medal Game

BRAMPTON, Ont. – The U.S. Women’s National Team looks to bring home a championship title, as they meet Canada in the gold medal game of the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario on Sunday. 

Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on NHL Network. 

TODAY'S MATCH UP

Today's game marks the gold medal game of the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship, with the U.S. facing off against the host country Canada. The U.S. defeated Czechia, 9-1, in the semifinals and Germany, 3-0, in the quarterfinals to reach the gold medal game.

AGAINST CANADA...

Today's game is the 34th all-time meeting between Team USA and Canada and the 21st time the two teams have met in the gold medal game. The U.S.' all-time record against Canada in WWC play is 12-4-7-10 (W-OTW-OTL-L). 

LAST TIME AGAINST CANADA

The U.S. and Canada last met in the final preliminary round game at the Women's World Championship. Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.) tied the game at 3-3 with 3.4 seconds remaining in the third period, before ultimately falling to Canada 4-3 in the shootout. 

IN THE GOLD MEDAL GAME

The U.S. holds a 4-5-4-8 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in Women's World Championship Gold Medal Games. Team USA last won gold at Women's Worlds during the 2019 WWC following a 2-1 (SO) victory over Finland. The U.S. holds a 0-3-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in the last five WWC gold medal games.
