GAME DAY | U.S. Faces Denmark Saturday at 5:20 a.m. ET in Men’s Worlds

TAMPERE, Finland – The U.S. Men’s National Team is back in action here at Nokia Arena on Saturday (May 20) for a 12:20 p.m. local/5:20 a.m. ET faceoff against Denmark in its fifth of seven preliminary round games in the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Championship All U.S. games in the world championship can be seen live in the U.S. on NHL Network.

The U.S. has won its first four games in the world championship and is coming off a 4-1 victory over Austria on Wednesday (May 17) in its last outing. Team USA did not practice on Thursday (May 18), but had a 35-minute skate on Friday (May 19) morning.

Denmark, which is 2-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) through four games, dropped a 6-4 decision to Germany Thursday (May 18) in its most recent contest. 

The U.S. and Denmark are meeting for just the ninth time ever in the world championship with Team USA having a 6-0-1-1-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) advantage. The teams last faced each other in the preliminary round of the 2019 world championship with the U.S. earning a 7-1 victory behind two goals and an assist from Alex DeBrincat and three assists from Patrick Kane.

The U.S. leads the eight-team Group A with 12 points through four games, followed by Sweden (11), Denmark (8) and Finland (7). 

Team USA is seeking to become just the fourth U.S. squad ever to win its first five games of a world championship with the 2018, 1933, and 1931 teams being the others.
