2023 U.S. Under-17 Men’s Select Team Announced

Roster set for 2023 Five Nations in Chomutov, Czechia

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Hockey announced today the 20 players who will compete as the 2023 U.S. Under-17 Men's Select Team at the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Chomutov, Czechia, from August 4-8. In addition to the U.S., the tournament will include teams from host Czechia, as well as Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland.

The players were selected from among those attending the USA Hockey BioSteel Boys Select 16 Development Camp this week in Amherst, New York.

The roster is comprised of 12 forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders. Players represent eight different U.S states, including California (2), Connecticut (1), Illinois (1), Massachusetts (1), Michigan (3), Minnesota (4), New York (5), and Texas (3).

UNDER-17 TEAM STAFF ANNOUNCED

Rich Hansen (New York, N.Y.) is the general manager of the U.S. Under-17 Men’s Select Team, while Scott Paluch (Bowling Green, Ohio) is serving as head coach. Dana Borges (Tauton, Mass.), Anthony Walsh (Burr Ridge, Ill.), and Zack Cisek (Canton, Mich.) are the team’s assistant coaches.

Other staff include Steve Rizzo (Lynnfield, Mass.), team leader; Dr. Dennis Sullivan (Portland, Maine), team physician; Kevin Margarucci (Colorado Springs, Colo.) athletic trainer; and Jason Smits (Moline, Ill.), equipment manager. 

NOTES:  Team USA has captured titles at eight Under-17 Five Nations Tournaments since the event was established in 2007 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021) as well as five second-place finishes (2007, 2008, 2009, 2019, 2022) … The U.S. owns an all-time record of 48-2-1-9 (W-OTW-OTL-L) at the U17 Five Nations Tournament.
