ZUG, Switzerland – The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will take the ice against Sweden in its final preliminary-round game of the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship on Wednesday at Bossard Arena.
Puck drop is set for 12 p.m. local time (6 a.m. ET) and will be live on NHL Network.

Today's game marks the final preliminary-round game of the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship for Team USA. The U.S. currently sits at the top of Group B with a 2-0-0-0 record after winning its first two games against Slovakia and Switzerland. The winner of today's meeting with Sweden will win Group B.

Team USA tallied eight goals as they topped Switzerland, 8-1, to move to 2-0-0-0 in preliminary-round play. The U.S. opened the game with two quick goals by Alanna Devlin and Ava Thomas to jump out to a 2-0 lead after one. A four-goal second extended Team USA's lead to 6-0. Switzerland broke the shutout on a power play early in the final frame, before two late goals from Kassidy Carmichael and Haley Box put the game away at 8-1. Layla Hemp recorded 14 saves in the winning effort in net.

Today's meeting with Switzerland is just the second all-time matchup between the two teams at the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship. The U.S. holds a 1-0-0-0 all-time record against the Swiss having previously beat them 11-0 in a preliminary round game on Jan. 8, 2008.
