GAME DAY: U.S. Faces Finland In U18 WWC Semifinals

ZUG, Switzerland – The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will play Finland in the semifinals at the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship at Bossard Arena on Saturday (Jan. 13).

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. local time (1 p.m. ET) and can be viewed live on NHL Network.


Today's game marks Team USA's semifinal game at the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship. It is the 16th-straight time the U.S. has made the semifinals at this tournament, each time the championship has been staged.


The U.S. holds a perfect 6-0-0-0 record against Finland, having beaten them every time they've met at the U18 WWC. Through six games, the U.S. has outscored Finland, 34-3.

Team USA is 14-1 all-time in the semifinal round at the Under-18 Women's World Championship. The team's lone loss came in 2023 to Sweden. The U.S. is 1-0 all-time in the semifinals against Finland.


The U.S. has posted two straight shutouts, blanking Sweden, 4-0, and Germany, 4-0. It marks the first time since 2022 the team has held opponents scoreless for two-straight games, when they beat Finland, 5-0, and Canada, 7-0, in the final two preliminary round games at the 2022 U18 WWC.
