USWNT, U.S. Nat’l Sled Team Up for 2017 Team USA Honors

Vote for both teams through midnight Monday, Oct. 30

The United States Olympic Committee announced today 26 finalists for the 2017 Team USA Awards, with the U.S. Women’s National Team being nominated for Olympic Team of the Year and the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team a finalist for Paralympic Team of the Year.

The Team USA Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of Team USA Athletes and teams year-round. Fans are invited to vote for their favorite athletes and teams across six categories at TeamUSA.org/Awards through midnight Monday, Oct. 30.

About The U.S. Women’s National Team

Last April, the U.S. Women’s National Team claimed its fourth consecutive gold medal at the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship, and first-ever on home ice, in Plymouth, Michigan. Team USA won all five games it played, including a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over Canada in the gold-medal game. In November 2016, the U.S. also topped Canada to win its second straight Four Nations Cup Title in Vierumaki, Finland. 

The U.S. Women's National Team will be preparing for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, with a series of games as part of The Time is Now Tour, presented by Toyota.

About the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team

The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team went 10-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in the 2016-17 campaign as it claimed the 2016 (Dec.) World Sled Hockey Challenge in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, before earning a silver medal at the 2017 Para Sled Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea. The runner-up finish gave Team USA an automatic berth for the upcoming 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Team USA will kick off the 2017-18 season at the 2017 World Sled Hockey Challenge from Dec. 1-10 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. where will it be seeking its fourth-straight title in the event.
