USA Hockey Announces Roster for 2022 U.S. Men’s National Team

Will Compete in 2022 IIHF Men’s World Championship Starting May 13

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced today 24 players who will comprise the 2022 U.S. Men’s National Team which will compete in the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship May 13-29 in Tampere and Helsinki, Finland.

"We've got a great group of players who we know will represent our country extremely well at the world championship," said Ryan Martin, general manager of the 2022 U.S. Men's National Team and also the assistant general manager of the New York Rangers. "As with all teams USA Hockey puts on the ice at any level, our goal is to bring back the gold medal and we look forward to the challenge ahead."

Team USA Roster

Team USA will depart the U.S. for Helsinki on Saturday (May 7) and train there until departing for Tampere following its lone exhibition game on May 11 against Canada in the Helsinki Ice Hall. The U.S. begins play in the world championship on May 13 against Latvia at 9:15 a.m. ET. All U.S. games in the tournament will air live on NHL Network.

The U.S. has medaled in four of the last eight IIHF Men's World Championships (bronze in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2021).

In addition to Chmelevski, two other players have competed in the Men's World Championship including Seth Jones (2014, 2015-bronze) and Alex Galchenyuk (2013-bronze)
  • 13 players (8 full-time) have played at USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, including Riley Barber, Kieffer Bellows, Thomas Bordeleau, Sasha Chmelevski, Sean Farrell, John Hayden, Luke Hughes, Caleb Jones, Seth Jones, Karson Kuhlman, vinni Lettieri, Alex Nedeljkevic and Austin Watson
  • Nine players are making their debut in an IIHF world championship, including Nick Blankenburg, Thomas Bordeleau, Adam Gaudette, Luke Hughes, Karson Kuhlman, Jaycob Megna, Sam Lafferty, Vinni Lettieri and Nate Schmidt
  • The players come from 12 different states with Minnesota (5), Massachusetts (3), Michigan (3) and Texas (3) leading the way
  • A total of 18 players have competed in college hockey in the U.S., with 12 different schools represented; the University of Michigan leads the way with four representatives, while the University of Minnesota has three
