BRIDGEWATER, Nova Scotia – The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will play Italy here today in the semifinals at the 2022 Para Hockey Cup. Opening faceoff is set for 2:00 p.m. ET and a live stream of the game can be found here prior to puck drop.
On Wednesday night (Nov. 30), the U.S. defeated Canada 3-2 in overtime to finish 2-1-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in preliminary round play. Josh Misiewicz (La Grange, Ill.) was named Team USA’s Player of the Game. Misiewicz, David Eustace (Haverhill, Mass.) and Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) scored for the U.S., with Farmer’s goal being the overtime game-winner.
The U.S. is looking to capture its seventh consecutive Para Hockey Cup title, and ninth PHC championship overall.
Team USA is 3-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time against Italy in the Para Hockey Cup. The U.S. defeated Italy 9-2 in Monday’s preliminary round game, where Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) was named U.S. Player of the Game. Italy finished preliminary round play with a 0-0-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record. The previous two PHC meetings between these teams both took place in the 2017 rendition of the tournament, where the U.S. beat Italy 10-0 in the preliminary round, and 5-1 in the semifinals.
