OSTRAVA, Czechia – The U.S. Men’s National Team will face Germany here tonight in its second of seven preliminary round games at the 2024 IIHF Men’s World Championship. Opening faceoff is set for 8:20 p.m. local time/2:20 p.m. ET at Ostravar Arena. All U.S. games in the world championship can be seen live on NHL Network.

The U.S. and Germany played three times as part of last year’s world championship, including a pre-tournament game in Munich on May 9 (6-3 U.S. win), a preliminary round matchup in the world championship on May 15 (3-2 U.S. win) and in the tournament semifinals, which Germany won by a 4-3 count in overtime.

The teams will meet for the 23rd time ever in the men’s world championship this evening, with Team USA owning a 13-0-2-4-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) advantage.

Team USA played last night and dropped a 5-2 decision to Sweden, which included two late empty-net goals by the Swedes. Zach Werenski and Brock Nelson scored for Team USA and Alex Lyon made 33 saves in goal. The U.S. won 70% of its faceoffs in the contest.
