COLOGNE, Germany – The U.S. and Denmark faceoff today at 4:15 p.m. local/10:15 a.m. ET (live on NHL Network; live stream on NBC Sports app and at NBCSports.com) at LANXESS Arena in the second of seven preliminary round games for both teams at the IIHF Men’s World Championship.
Both teams are coming off losses – the U.S. dropped a 2-1 decision to Germany on Friday night (May 5) despite outshooting the hosts, 43-27 – and Denmark fell to Latvia by a 3-0 decision yesterday afternoon.
The U.S. and Denmark have met five times previously in the world championship. Team USA has a 3-0-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) series advantage. The last meeting between the two teams came in the 2015 world championship, with the U.S. gaining a 1-0 victory in the preliminary round behind 21 saves from goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and Brock Nelson’s second period goal.
Team USA is playing the first of its two “back-to-backs” as it will face Sweden here tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m.
