Hannah Bilka (Coppell, Texas) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the U.S. Under-22 Select Team past Canada, 4-3, in game 1 of the three-game series.

Team USA jumped out to a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the first period when Grace Zumwinkle (Excelsior, Minn.) scored on the power play. However, Canada tied it up less than three minutes later to leave the score knotted 1-1 after the first period.

Less than two minutes into the second period, Taylor Heise (Lake City, Minn.) got on the board for Team USA, giving the U.S. a 2-1 lead. The remainder of the second period went scoreless. U.S. goaltender Emma Polusny (Mound, Minn.) recorded 15 saves in the second period alone to preserve Team USA’s 2-1 lead going into the second intermission.

Natalie Snodgrass (Eagan, Minn.) extended Team USA's lead to 3-1 midway through the third period off a one-timer set up by Zumwinkle. Heise almost added another for the U.S. minutes later with a one-timer of her own, but it was smothered by Canadian goaltender Kendra Woodland.

Canada cut Team USA's lead in half with just over five minutes to play in the third period. With 1:27 left on the clock in the third, Canada's Kristin O'Neill tied the game up 3-3 to force overtime.
